meet the rocket, the copy of meet the soldier by Valve. Comparison video made by a Chinese gamer. Although Xunlei is taking a strict approach to control the public opinion against Final Combat in China, you could still reach the unhappy TF2 community hidden behind the scene if you search for the right place. The official Final Combat forum in Baidu "大冲锋贴吧" (http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kw=%B4%F3%B3%E5%B7%E6) is not really the place you should go because it is already invaded by Xunlei. You may have a false sense of understanding that Chinese gamers do not know anything about the TF2 rip off because no one talks about TF2 and they ask for beta activation code like enthusiasts in the forum. A retired administrator of the board has revealed in another forum that he receives 50RMB a month from Xunlei to delete posts in Baidu and speak positively about Final Combat. So the board is pretty much abandoned by the real gamers and its popularity is maintained only by a few Xunlei employees talking to self with multiple accounts. The refugees of Xunlei and Baidu forum who got banned for knowing too much are gathering in another Baidu forum board under the name of "大抽风贴吧" (http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kw=%B4%F3%B3%E9%B7%E7&pn=0). The pronunciation of "大抽风" is similar to that of Final Combat in Mandarin and the term "massive pirate practice" or a sickness "severe spasm". They chose an ironic name so Baidu could not ban them. It is the underground hideout for Valve supporters in China who hate Xunlei for copying TF2 for money and the place for them to discuss of ways to fight against Xunlei indirectly. At the moment, they are actively organizing different anti-Xunlei activities, including mass spamming attack against Xunlei and Baidu forum, making cheats for the game and use them in Xunlei Final Combat servers, and also creating video showing how shameless Final Combat is. Obviously, Chinese gamers hate Xunlei with a passion and care about the incident as much as Western communities do. So if you are an angry TF2 fan thinking of ways to damage Xunlei’s reputation, sue Xunlei for copyright infringement or want to tell the Chinese gamers that Final Combat is a dupe, you can rest assured that many of them already know about the truth and are already doing what you have in mind. The TF2 community in China is not at all small and is not stupid enough to trust Xunlei that Final Combat is an original game. The majority of them who tried the game even claim that it is a piece of crap with abysmal control, graphic and class balance comparing to TF2, and the overall quality of the game is barely acceptable ten years ago. So I would say it is for the best to leave Final Combat alone and let it dies out itself. It does not look like Xunlei is going anywhere with this inferior product anyway. |
