Is there not a way to restrict an account more fairly? I buy games from here all the time and resell for USD. It's an excellent service and I always come here before Steamtrades, reddit, tf2outpost etc just because it's fast, simple, and clean. This site will dwindle in use compared to the others without relatively open access because the other trade sites (steamtrades) will be able to offer far better pricing on games.
Is there not a way that the dispenser could simply restrict trading accounts by the level and age of a users steam account? This is how 90% of traders discriminate between a safe vendor and a fraudulent one anyway, it makes sense to employ this strategy. It would remove 99% of all scammers if you enforced a minimum account age of say 2 years and level 30.
There are many strategy to employ but most of you miss the fact that Valve decides everything at the end. People ask me to employ some sort of 'account verification'. But that's not the point. Let's say there are always going to be some revoked gifts coming in here anyway, if Valve only deletes them, that's totally fine with us. But now they seem would trade ban an account if the situation is severe. We are very passive because even a 'trusted' seller could intentionally or unintentionally get our bot trade banned without consequences on their end - when they claim that they know nothing.
This. Why come here if you can only access the prices of some 200 odd VIP traders? As a customer (and I am a buyer 90% of the time, not a seller) I am strongly encouraged to try other trades sites that will have more range and lower prices due to heavier competition.
Why do you think some people could sell gift for such a low price, though?
